It’s to be understood that we are going to be trying many different herbs until we find the right treatment for our son.
We started the Tumeric journey, and we started to see positive results. But I wanted to take it a little further by trying something that might be a little stronger.
Tumeric worked to calm down his inflammation and it was evident. But what was also evident was the fact that it was causing him to lose his appetite, and that is the last thing we need.
I partnered the Tumeric up with Quercetin to strengthen its effectives. I wanted to slide back from Tumeric for a second and look further into Boswellia.
Lets Take a Look at Anti-Inflammatory Herbs Like Boswellia
Boswellia serrata is a tree gum extract that has been shown to inhibit Th1 cytokines and promotes Th2 cytokines, which helps to reverse the imbalance of Th1 and Th2 that increases inflammation.
Boswellia is one of the most important botanical ingredients available to mankind. It can fight disease better than conventional medications, making the perfect go to.
During my research I realized that boswellia might have the ability to calm down the inflammation in my son’s body.
- It inhibits tumor growth and the spread of cancer
- Stops allergies, asthma, COPD, and other respiratory disease symptoms
- Relives pain from arthritis, and exercise
- Soothe digestive symtpoms of IBD, IBS, Crohns, and Colitis
- Fights 5-Lox inflammation, which has been known to be a common factor of many diseases
It has been said that Boswellia stops inflammation triggers, reducing the incidences of the inflammatory cascade effects that makes these diseases so hard to treat conventionally.
Boswellia- Digestive and Inflammation
Microscopic inflammation through small bowel and colon may be one of the physical causes, and one of the effects of IBS.
The inflamed tissue causes the body to release inflammatory mediators that affect the enteric nerves.
This changes the way the digestive system reacts to what would otherwise be normal operating procedure.
When there is inflammation in the gut, the gut sends the brain a signal letting it know that something is wrong.
The digestive system overreacts by switching into high gear; causing diarrhea, and or slowing peristalsis and causing constipation.
It’s crazy how IBD is the most commonly diagnosed. It’s symptoms causes constipation, diarrhea, general digestive discomfort, pain, fever, bloody diarrhea and unpredictable flare ups.
My son suffers from Ulcerative Crohns, an autoimmune disease as the doctors call it. His colon seems to have a mind of it’s own. His body’s aggression is being taken out on his colon.
It got to the point where his doctors didn’t know what to call it so they just started making shit up. All his disease is in his colon. With him, the inflammation is destroying patches of mucosal lining in the colon.
For me, I’m not sure where the malnutrition came from because he no longer uses his colon. I assume that the long period of inflammation just caused his metabolism to run amok.
It’s important that I find a way to smother any inflammation that might be lingering. He is currently comfortable with no pain, outside of his ostomy wounds that I am currently treating.
I think Tumeric might have played a huge part in that small success. But I am now implementing boswellia to see if I see major changes in his overall health.
Clinical Studies and Boswellia
Boswellia has been seen as a unique herb that has the ability to stop 5-Lox inflammation and it’s connection to digestive diseases. There have been several clinical studies in cases of Colitis and Crohns disease.
A German study, participants with Crohn’s disease were treated with either the drug mesalazine or Boswellia. The natural anti-inflammatory supplement Boswellia performed as well as the drug, but without the serious side effects.
Patients with colitis were given boswellia extract or the prescription drug sulfasalazine. The results for boswellia were extremely positive.
Out of 20 patients treated with boswellia, 18 showed an improvement in one or more of the diagnostic parameters. 14 of the 20-saw remission of symptoms across the board.
It has been concluded that Boswellia is just as effective as prescriptions drugs when treating Crohn’s and Colitis.
I’m going to do research on which boswellia is best to use. I’m not in the business of buying bullcrap herbs. If we are going to do it, then we are going to do it right.
If I have to create my own herbal treatment from scratch, then that is exactly what I plan to do.
If I have to create my own herbal treatment then that is what I’m going to do.
I want my son to have a chance to make it through this shit, and the only way that is going to happen is if we obtain the best.
We are now starting on the Boswellia Serrata Trial for our son’s Crohns disease- starting with learning how to purchase the right kind.
